Ruth has posted up a very lovely blog post (oh alright, I know I'm biased, but still) about campaign progress re: the Open Letter to First Minister. http://allinthistogetherwales.wordpress.com/2013/07/05/open-letter-...

More good news!
The Welsh Government's Building Resilient Communities strategy published a couple of days ago makes explicit reference to timebanking and to the need for a co-produced approach to service design and delivery by Communities First.
Best bits are:
Critically each Cluster has a Community Involvement Plan which shows how local people and community organisations will be central in planning and delivering work with other key partners working with them supporting all aspects of the programme. There is an emphasis on tackling the needs identified by the communities themselves...
Time Banking

The development of time banking within the Communities First programme can support active volunteering in communities and rewards people with time credits. Timebanking is being undertaken in a number of Clusters and is being further supported by a project jointly funded by Interreg. The project will support 12 Clusters and will further develop this model of working with local businesses, service providers and other funders.
Good-oh!

Further to Ruth's discussion post about the 5-week online course run by IDEO + acumen on "human-centred design for social innovation" (http://plusacumen.org/courses/hcd-for-social-innovation/). We are putting together a Cardiff team. Any Cardiff co-prodders interested in joining us? (We will have to get together once a week to do the course all together so that's why geography is a factor - sorry.) By us, I mean a few people from ThinkARK (http://thinkark.co.uk/) - I wear both the copro and the ARK hat, but it would be good to have at least one more person join us from the copro front.  :)

Just returned from the 2-day conference run by the Schumacher Institute for Sustainable Systems in Bristol. The theme was "A  new social contract for sustainability". Tons of brains and energy in the same room, great programme and facilitation (and lovely food to keep us fuelled up). Participation and co-production were mentioned, in the context of social models and of implementing durable change. Many fruitful discussions occurred and there are potential exciting partnerships and collaborations in the pipeline, so watch this space!
