A bit thank you to those who made it to the London network event today, despite the strikes.
It was a good event, with new and old faces and interesting conversations going on around:
- how to make the case for coproduction
- developing a theory of change for coproduction
- the moral vs economic argument for coproduction
- the "tipping point" for coproduction
we also showed the "Best of the Coproduction Roadshows" video:…

Hi all,
We are looking for two new development workers to join our new English team. We are developing a number of programmes with four localities across England, where we will be working in partnership with community groups and public sector services to develop time credit systems. The programme has been developed with support from Nesta, Office of Civil Society, Tudor Trust and Lankelly Chase Foundation.
Here's a bit of blurb:

The purpose of ‘What makes us tick’ was to bring together people who are
passionate about making a difference in the communities they live and work in
and who are open to the new possibilities that can be created when we learn from
each other.
‘What makes us tick’ was an opportunity for people to share what’s important
to them, their own ideas and…

I am looking for any progress on co-production approaches in service delivery in other councils. E.g. good practice/case studies as part of implementation plans for positive change. (New ways of working)
In Kirklees we have agreed a mandate for change across Communities & Wellbeing services. i.e. an action plan to transform the market and relationships between staff and service users.

What is the high-level promise of co-production for social housing?
Co-production presents an opportunity for significant reform and improvement of the design, delivery and monitoring of services within social housing.
If social housing communities are to genuinely thrive, and housing professionals are charged with being the catalysts to transform those communities, then neither “side” can do it alone. Within a context of fewer resources, the only spare…

The London co-production roadshow was the culmination of the five UK wide events that nef, NESTA, the co-production practitioners’ network and a range of partners, have been facilitating.
The day got off to a great start with a keynote from Philip Colligan, the executive director of NESTA’s public services lab. He talked about the imperative of co-production, and how it responded to a real need for a different approach to public services, one which delivers services with…
ContinueIn 2007 Solihull Council created the Environment Champions scheme to tackle the community's problem with littering vandalism and other environmental crimes in a context of fiscal austerity. The project sought to instigate greater community involvement and ownership over these issues, and improve partnerships between the public, private and voluntary groups in Solihull.
The project has recruited over 270 'champions' and completed over 100 projects - increasing social cohesion and…

The personalisation of social care – the idea that everyone who is offered support should have maximum choice and control over their service and their life – is beset with some real problems. The biggest one being that making personalisation happen requires changes in services and budgets, at a time when councils are also cutting services and budgets. There have been articles in the trade press recently alleging that, surprise, surprise,…

Blackheath fireworks night has been a long standing tradition in Lewisham – with 80,000 people attending it in 2009. In past year it had received funding from both Lewisham and Greenwich councils with some private sponsorship. In October 2010 Greenwich council decided not commit its share of the funding leaving the event in doubt. Lewisham council remained committed by wasn’t able to meet the shortfall alone. Instead it launched a public appeal for donations. This is a…
