Co-production practitioners network

A network for co-production practitioners

Invovlement of 'clients', 'customers', 'users' or 'patients' in the Co-pro Wales Network

Hi, unfortunately, I haven't been able to attend recent meetings, but was present for the initial Co-pro meeting last year.  Since then an awful lot of work has been put into the Network and it has come a very long way in just a year - well done all involved in enabling and facilitating this!

I apologise if this has already been discussed / raised!  I was wondering whether 'clients', 'customers', 'users' or 'patients' are being involved during network meetings - in the spirit of Co-Pro :  )

Will be attending the next meeting too to catch up!

Hi Bethan

Good to hear from you! Yes clients/service-recipients are involved (a group of young people from Bronafon Housing presented at the last Network Meeting, and a parent-carer gave a very moving presentation at the previous session). But not enough. If you can offer any support/ideas to help get the message out there that the Network belongs to all of us, that would be fab!

Once we are properly established (i.e. funded) that will be a priority.

Cheers

Ruth

Hi Ruth - sorry so long since I posted the original discussion for me to reply.  I would be interested in offering support / ideas regarding involving service users / patients / customers.  I am a mental health service user and quite active in RCT & in Research nationally.  Have things progressed since I first posted my discussion?

best wishes,

bethan

Hi Bethan

Thanks so much for your thoughtful contribution to the Click on Wales site - really good to hear from you again! I've responded to that contribution but while we are waiting for it to be moderated I thought I'd also reply here. Yes please to your offer - the lack of service-user / carer involvement is an issue that we are very aware of but we need help to put that right. And it would be good to get your involvement (and that of Forum colleagues) in the WG Co-production Implementation Group that Ruth Hussey is leading on. Maybe we could have a chat over a cuppa? My direct email is ruth@coproductiontraining.com

Look forward to hearing from you.

Cheers

Ruth

Thanks Ruth for replying :  )  Will email you directly :  )

As I discussed with Noreen earlier - a lot of co-producing is already occurring across Wales, and she said, its about 'connecting up the dots'.

Bethan :  )

Hi Bethan, we've have been doing some co-proudction meet-ups n North Wales that is involving citizens, at the moment the events are more practioner-based but we find that some of the practioner's are also service-users themselves so bring those voices to the table also. We are hoping to have Lesley Butt an inspirational young woman who we met initially at our Flintshire/Wrexham CC corproduction/direct payments world cafe, and has since gone on to find part time employment. Our events are free for those that cannot pay, as their asset in this case is their knowledge and voice, and we encourage organisations to bring citizens. Our next event is WWNT Co-Production Meet-up 5 on 2 April 2014 in Flintshire - visit www.workingwithnotto.com or dm us at @workingwithnot2 for more information and we are planning one in Porthcawl/SW Wales for early summer 2014.
