Thank you for your message, Ruth! Just joined the Wales group. It looks like the Fulbright academic affiliations are coming together (from Cardiff and Aberystwyth). I'll keep you posted as it all unfolds. Thanks again for your help!

Hi Ruth,

A very good morning to you :) Thanks for the Heads Up! Have joined the Welsh group now too.

Out of curiosity ... I can't seem to get my profile picture up :) not important I guess but hey ... :) Its only a small file so cannot really understand why.

I was also trying to look at some of the Docs under Resources - health and none of them seem viewable or downloadable - has anyone had any problems recently?

As you now know, I am new to the group but have been looking at nef for a while and also trying to figure out NESTA and how I can be part of it usefully, but I think at this early stage, it may actually how well I understand the network and identify key orgs/individuals who may be able to support the social enterprise (in the health and well being, volunteering, fundraising fields) and then in turn be able to help back.

I am meeting the Wales Co-op in the coming week or two to thrash out the ideas and the business plans and then I will be able to start approaching people properly, so who knows, there may be some movement from me by June so it would be great to be at the event with United Welsh.

In the mean time, if you are on LinkedIn, you can find me there and see my profile and history too :)

I hope you have a lovely day,

Ranjit

The project has only just wrapped up, so no journals to link to so far. If you'd like to send me your contact details (is there a pm facility here, I haven't had time to explore everything yet) then I can send you a paper I'm presenting in Lisbon in November.

Hi Ruth,

Quite similar to Lee actually. My background is social marketing, and I'm interested in how stakeholders can collaborate with deprived communities to make things better, rather than doing research and then delivering "interventions" aimed at getting people to change. I'm mid way through writing up my own thesis based on a project that started out as being about alcohol harm reduction in two deprived communities, but ended up being mostly about powerlessness and isolation.

Cheers,

Katie

Hi Ruth,

I didn't know Lee (he's at Bristol not UWE) but he does look like a good person to know. I see that his PhD research is looking at Time Banking; I've had some contact with Fair Shares in Gloucester recently. Looks like a great model.

Cheers,

Katie

Hello Ruth,

Thank you! I can't immediately think what Lee you mean; are they at UWE?

I've joined the Wales group, looking forward to finding out more about the work there.

Cheers,

Katie.

People have been excited by the 2012 visits to Wales by international Co-op Social Co-operative specialists Jean_PIerre Girard and John Restakis, but also by working together across many different organisations and people based upon universal co-operative values and principles.
