A network for co-production practitioners

Randomosed Coffee Trials

This is something that myself and Noreen spoke about briefly at the last meeting. It's been tried at Nesta and has proved popular and useful. (See Randomised Coffee Trials)

Taking the acronym from randomised control trials, the idea is that people from the co-pro network who sign up would be ranmomly paired with with someone else who lives or works within a reasonable distance. They meet up for a coffee which gives a the chance to build more connections amongst the co-pro community, learn more about other projects and perhaps explore new synergies and opportunities.

Is anyone up for it?

...sounds like a great idea (though I'd prefer tea - and muffins please). I'm probably already very throroughly connected in all directions but would love to see this take off. Did you message group members Matthew? Or just post up the discussion? If the latter, it might be worth doing the former!

Agree it sounds like a really good idea, i would definatley be up for it and agree we need to use independant coffee shops or even community cafe's. Look forward to hearing more.

In order to pair ourselves up with people in our geographical area it would be good to have a map of where everyone is. How did the logistics of this work at Nesta, Matthew?

I could look into setting up a Google Maps of the Wales network where everyone could put a marker for where they are, I've used this in other groups before.

It was a bit easier as most people share the same office base. I guess if people who are interested e-mail home and workbase to me (matthew.gatehouse74@gmail.com), i'll match up people from a similar area and then randomise (pull names from a hat) and put the two people in touch for them to organise a suitable time. The Google maps thing could work but I guess some people are willing and able to travel further than others.

Another option would be to devote the first 20 minutes of the next network meeting for the purpose.

I posted it as a discussion but I gather that people who've opted to receive e-mails from the network get notified of all new discussions so should see it via that route. Of course I could be wrong about this but I know that I always get e-mails to alert me to new discussions.

Certainly sounds like an interesting idea. Thanks Matthew. It could be a really useful way of developing and capitalising on connections we make through the network. Definitely agree with using independent coffee shops :-) Thanks, Loveday

A Google Map of the Wales network would be good Noreen. Be good to know about others in the Brecon area.
