Event Description

This follows on from the last, interesting event hosted by Lambeth Council and Helen Sharp, the commissioning manager for Young People's services, where we talked about coproduction in young people's services and the challenges of coproduction in the public sector.

This next event, which will be the sixth meeting of the London Network, has been organised by Nicola Kingston, who many of you will have met at the last meeting.

This time we will be talking about Coproduction in the NHS, using the example of the Diabetes Improvement project being run jointly between NHS Hammersmith and Fulham , people with Diabetes living locally and voluntary sector organisations. This project is funded by National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Collaboration for Leadership and Applied Health Research and Care (CLAHRC) for Northwest London, hosted by Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust with Imperial College as the main academic partner. We are working with them to spread the ideas of coproduction in health and wellbeing services.

We would also like to talk about :

  • how you evaluate such projects to look at the benefits of coproduction as well as other project outcomes
  • how you recognise the involvement of volunteers and any policies you have in place for this

So we will lead a discussion on this, and would love to hear from you about your experiences and /or reports on this.

So the agenda is shaping up :

  • Nicola Kingston and the Diabetes Improvement team will talk about peer educators, mentors and champions and coproduction in practice
  • We'll then have an session on evaluation and examples of work that has been done in Hammersmith on this

The final part of agenda for the morning has been left open for you to set with your suggestions for themes, questions you want answering and/or work you would like to present. Please email us at nicola.kingston@inwl.nhs.uk if you would like to make any suggestions before the day.

Hope to see many of you there!
