If only all GP's had the same mindset as Dr. Tim Doyle. In this video service users talk candidly about addiction and their experiences with local GP's. The first point of contact for a person with a drug or alcohol problem is very often their GP. This can be a very scary process and one that the user may well have been contemplating for a long time. Having a GP who understands the recovery process along with the complex and chaotic lifestyle of a person suffering addiction is a valued but somewhat rare experience. Hopefully this video will help to reduce the stigma attached to people with a drug or alcohol problem. As stated by Dr. Doyle.....'drug users are no different from the vast majority of other people, they are human beings like everybody else'. My own recovery over twenty years ago reflects the many negative experiences of people considering recovery today. To combat the stigma of addiction it is vital that recovery is celebrated and made visual whenever possible. This is a great start!
