Rethinking Economics: a Conversation on Real Wealth and Developing a Caring Economy

18 June 2012 at 4pm for 4.30pm - 6.30pm
Bangor Management Centre
Gwynedd
North Wales
"The real wealth of our world consists of the real contributions of people and of nature. We therefore need what we have never  had: economic systems that give visibility and real value to the most important human work: the work of caring for people,  starting in early childhood, and caring for the Earth. We wouldn't have our environmental and social problems and economic crises if we had more caring economic systems. Today it is more urgent then ever before that we shift to a caring economics."
- Dr Riane Eisler, author of 'The Real Wealth of Nations' and 'The Chalice and the Blade'.
This meeting will provide an opportunity for conversation and dialogue on one of the key issues of our time: how to shift our economic systems in a direction that better reflects our human need to care for people and the planet.
The meeting will be facilitated by Paul Swann, a policy officer by profession who is currently participating in a Caring Economics Conversation Leadership programme provided by Dr Riane Eisler's Center for Partnership Studies.
Paul will introduce some of the key ideas presented by Dr Eisler and other radical economists, and facilitate a conversation to explore their relevance to us in Wales.
The event is free. The group will be limited to 15 people on a first come, first served basis. Please note that no knowledge of mainstream economics is required.
