Postgraduate Funding Opportunity: ‘Co-Producing Cultural Policy’ Workshop

AHRC Collaborative Skills Development project hosted by the Centre for Critical Studies in Museums, Galleries & Heritage, University of Leeds, Leeds Metropolitan University and the University of Warwick.

Many researchers aspire to inform and influence cultural policy and practice through their studies. Focusing on cultural policy, this project identifies and addresses two skills gaps: developing cross-disciplinary knowledge exchange among postgraduates and early career researchers, practitioners and policymakers, and exploring approaches to co-producing cultural policy and framing research in response to policy challenges.

Following the first ‘Co-Producing Cultural Policy’ event on participation and cultural policy decision-making at the University of Leeds, the University of Warwick will host the second workshop, on cultural value, which covers topics relating to the role of culture in society, the impact agenda for culture, models for measuring the social impact of the arts and the value of academic research in relation to policy. Speakers include:

• Susan Jones (Director at a-n The Artists Information Company)

 

• Eleonora Belfiore (Associate Professor of Cultural Policy and Director of Studies of the Warwick Commission on the Future of Cultural Value)

The programme will also feature a hands-on workshop, which explores how the work of humanities researchers can be applied to different audiences and disseminated through a range of media.

Applications will be assessed based on the suitability of the research to the topic of the workshop, and successful delegates sent a unique link to the event’s online booking service.

Thanks to generous support from the AHRC, we are able to offer a limited number of travel bursaries for up to £50, on provision of receipts, for travel to and from the workshop (allocated on a first come, first served basis).
