Personalisation, recovery, and user centred approaches to problem drug use

The report, Whole Person Recovery: a user-centred systems approach to problem drugs use summarises the work of the RSA Whole Person Recovery Project (so far) including the project's approach to understanding in a holisitic way how people get trapped in cycles of addiction, what helps or hinders their journey to recovery and what supports them in long term recovery.

The report will be launched at the RSA on Wednesday 24th November, 9.00-10.30am (8 John, Adam Street, London, WC2N 6EZ).

This is one of the most exciting projects at the RSA (I am a bit biased) and I hope you will be able to join us to hear about what we did and the impact that it has made to the individuals and communities we have been working in. We hope that this work will ignite commissioners, practitioners and other community organisations to take a more pro-active role in creating the environments in which more people are able to pursue and sustain their recovery and in which less people develop problematic drug and alcohol use.

Steve Broome, RSA Director of Research will give a comprehensive presentation on the project and report. We will be joined by David Burrowes MP (PSS to Oliver Letwin and who's remit includes drug and alcohol policy reform). We will also be joined by Paul Hayes, the Chief Executive of the National Treatment Agency and Carley O'Hara, the Chair of the local independent peer led organisation that has been supported by the project, EXACT.

Please RSVP to Janet.hawken@rsa.org.uk if you would like to attend. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
