Co-production & co-design in the arts and in public services

Leeds Met University, ESRC, Arts Council England, the RSA and Involve are organising a seminar on co-production & co-design in the arts and in public services.

This seminar is designed for academics, policy makers and practitioners working in different policy areas. It provides those working in the arts the opportunity to engage with debates and practices in other areas of the public sector.  It also offers those working in other areas the chance to explore how cultural activity may help them deliver other objectives.

Speakers

Laura Brodrick  - Graphic and Creative Facilitator -Think Big Picture

‘Co-production - a view from the bridge’- Laura will share some of her experiences from over 30 years as a practitioner, manager and commissioner in public services. She will outline key factors that help and hinder co-production"

Laura has a long record of co-production as a professional, manager and commissioner in health and social care, Laura now works independently with all sectors to support effective asset-based approaches that put people who use services in control and that create positive change.

Chris Higgins- Director- Prosper Canterbury

Discussing the principles and conditions for collaboration and co-design referring to Prosper - an arts-led collaboration investment programme in East Kent involving SMEs, communities, public sector bodies and cultural organisations as well as what they have learnt through generating programmes around co-creation in the corporate sphere.

The Map is a group of experienced artist-facilitators designing and leading creative professional development and culture change programmes. They work across sector to facilitate interventions that redefine the nature of work, establish connections between people and places

Jocelyn Cunningham - Director, Arts and Society

Jocelyn will be drawing upon learning in Arts and Social Change Peterborough, part of the recently completed RSA programme, Citizen Power and Arts and Social Change Wiltshire, a current three-year programme of radical local government reform.

Arts and Society creates an intermediary space between artists working in public spheres and those in local authorities who are keen to explore new and more joined up ways of working.

Clive Mitchell-  Programme Manager – Involve

Clive will share experiences from the work underway to co-design NHS Citizen. This is an innovative project which aims to bring citizen voice in to the heart of decision-making in the NHS.

Involve are experts in public participation. Involve believe passionately in a democracy where citizens are able to take and influence the decisions that affect their lives.
