Background to your work: My background is in Occupational Therapy. I have worked in the NHS for 22 years with adults in mental health services. I currently manage a Recovery College in Surrey. It is a new initiative and co-production, co-delivery is at the heart of what we do. We have paid Recovery Coaches who are people with lived experience, of having a mental and or physical health condition, writing and delivering courses with clinicians. Our college welcomes people who are in services, people with a diagnosis who are not receiving treatment, people who are living with problematic traits; their friends, family, Carers and staff working in the field who want to learn how best to support people in their recovery and how to maintain their own health. Everyone who enrols to the college is a student, we all learn from each other. It is an exciting service to manage and it challenges the more traditional ways of working.
