Background to your work
Objectives of my role:
Delivery of the Citizens Panel: Oversee establishing the flagship programme for civic participation, within the local authority.

Partner with Governance in being the steward of the Charter of Public Participation: Raise awareness of the Charter around the council and work with Governance to ensure that all key-decisions adhere to it.

Support the whole council to Put Communities First: Devise and deliver a strategy to support the whole council to improve its engagement; involving communities in decision-making; and co-design capabilities. This may include scoping what would be needed to create a Community Engagement Function with business partnering arrangements. This will also include working with HR to ensure our training offer meets the council’s ambition.

Lead the Council's Community Engagement Network: Refresh the council’s internal network for supporting practitioners to share good practice related to involving communities in decision-making.

Refresh and maintain the Community Engagement Toolkit: Ensure that this internal tool is informed by the best practice from within the council; nationally; and internationally.

Oversee the Consultation and Insights Team work programme: Oversee the:
consultation gateway & support;
launch of the census; and the
production of the community sentiment dashboard;

Lead the Consultation & Insights Team: Ensure that the team and every team member under your chain of command continuously improves. This includes working with the Director for Communities to identify talent in order to create a succession pipeline.
