Background to your work
I help people to use all kinds of technology (including the web, digital TV, video, audio and photography) to share what they know, participate in their community and get things done for themselves. I work with residents, community organisations and service providers. I'm part of the Web Development Team at Kirklees Council.

My current projects include:

Local 2.0 - working with The Young Foundation to explore neighbourhood media, finding new ways of using social media tools to help people improve communication within their neighbourhoods.

Make It Local - working with NESTA on an open data project called 'Who owns my neighbourhood?' using land ownership data as a starting point for local conversations.

Nintendo Wii pilot - working with older Kirklees residents and people who have a long term health condition or disability, to find out whether the Nintendo Wii is useful and beneficial for their health.

Timebanking on TV - working with Newsome Ward Timebanking, Timebanking UK and the Digital Inclusion Team to share timebanking information via digital TV, using the Looking Local service (which is owned and managed by Kirklees Council).

Also...

I'm a timebanker, heritage campaigner, food grower and resident of Newsome, Huddersfield. I'm part of Huddersfield Social (a group of volunteers who organise the Huddersfield Social Media Surgery and other events) and I help to run Newsome Ward Community Forum.

And I drink a lot of tea.
