The ADI-2 DAC, a 2-channel DA converter with extreme power headphone amplifier, super low noise IEM output, DSD playback, USB operation and digital SPDIF / ADAT support. Buy the RME Audio ADI-2 Reference-class DA Conversion. RME's ADI-2 Pro has become a reference for pro D/A conversion. Now, RME sets its sights on the high-end home audio market with the ADI-2 DAC, which shares the same technology but swaps some of the Pro's studio-centric features for ones that are deemed essential by hi-fi enthusiasts. The ADI-2 DAC includes an improved SteadyClock, a fine-tuned to perfection analog circuitry, remote control, Extreme Power headphone output and a very special IEM output. It has all the bells and whistles that made the ADI-2 Pro famous, including its perfectly transparent sound signature and For a complete run-down of the ADI-2 DAC's almost overwhelming feature set and options, you can visit the RME website. The very comprehensive manual is also available for download from the site. Sonically, the ADI-2 DAC places the emphasis squarely on neutrality and accuracy - and that's not surprising, given its pro audio heritage. With an adapted feature set and much simplified operation RME proudly presents the ADI-2 DAC. Built on the technology, concept and features of the ADI-2 Pro, the DAC concentrates on DA conversion in top high-end quality, along with two exceptional outputs for headphones and IEMs, and - a remote control. The RME ADI-2 DAC is a slimmed down and more audiophile orientated version of the award-winning RME ADI-2 Pro from 2016. It is priced at a more affordable 999 Euros. Read our review now on Headfonics.com! After using my ADI-2 DAC for a while I discovered the following problem: When the sampling rate is changed through WASAPI, there's a loud pop in the left channel of the line out. It never happens on the phones out, only on the line out, and only in the left channel. The ADI-2 Pro (FS) firmware (as well as the ADI-2 DAC) as of June 2018 has been upgraded to UAC2 (USB Audio Class 2) compatibility under Windows 10. This means without any custom drivers installed, you have access to compatible sample rates plus bit-perfect playback and control in WASAPI (32-bit data format) and in the Sound settings like this: Anyhow, the manual states that "() the DA-conversion always operates on highest sonic level, being completely independent from the quality of the incoming clock signal" (chapters 4 and 31.3, pages 6 and 55). Does this mean that the sMS-200 Neo Ultra has no added value compared to the non-Ultra version (when used with an ADI-2 DAC)? RME's ADI-2 DAC is a true milestone in many ways. A unit with specs that are as real as RME's reputation, a feature set that is unheard of, useful features that for unknown reasons no one else implemented, and two extremely powerful headphone outputs, that will be your new reference in accuracy and dynamic range. My overall thoughts on the RME ADI-2 DAC is very positive. You aren't paying $1000+ for the sound quality alone. You're buying into the awesome feature set and the convenience of having a DAC and amp in a combined unit. The word end game gets tossed around alot, but I can safely say without regret that the ADI-2 DAC qualifies as end game. These are designed to set-up, and operate the DAC, and work in harmony with the black ABS shield-shaped remote. If you begin to wonder why a DAC needs this degree of user interaction, a quick flip through the comprehensive English/German manual quickly demonstrates the thoroughn
