Involving citizens in the commissioning and inspection of care homes

A query. I'm starting a piece of work for CSV to try to 'increase the potential and capacity of volunteering and social action to improve outcomes for and the quality of care experienced by people in residential care and nursing home settings.' I'm particularly interested in approaches which include citizens in the commissioning and inspection of care homes. Does anyone have any examples of good practice they are able to share? Hi Andrew, in my previous role as Engagement Manager in Worcestershire my team supported a small group of volunteers who visited care homes and reported on their findings. This group and their work was taken over by the local Health Watch organisation. We are currently looking at implementing the approach via a peer reviewing service called "Choice Checkers" who have been reviewing a number of services within the Supporting People environment and is now Pareto
