Event Description

We are pleased to announce the of launch the international Economic Democracy Index at the New Economics Foundation. Be sure to reserve your place as spaces are filling up.

The Index constructs a comparative measure of democratic participation and economic rights in 32 OECD economies. The project is led by a team of researchers at the University of Glasgow’s Adam Smith Business School, with partners from Nottingham Trent University, Oxfam and the New Economics Foundation.

The seminar will begin with opening remarks from Aditya Chakrabortty, followed by Matthew Brown, Cabinet Member for Social Justice, Inclusion and Policy at Preston City Council, which has pioneered local economic democracy measures. Members of the project team will then present the Index’s findings and policy implications and discuss its insights for economic governance and strategy. This will be followed by a Q&Achaired by Anna Coote, and an opportunity to discuss the findings over lunch.
