SUMMARY:Researching Co-production
DESCRIPTION:The concept of co-production has been discussed for while
but recently, it has experienced a revival due to the increasing atten
tion to the role of citizens, universities and the third sector in the
provision of public services. In the tradition of Ostrom, the concept
of co-production has been defined as the mix of activities that both
public sector agents and citizens contribute to the provision of publi
c services. It has been argued that this concept can contribute to gre
ater satisfaction of users to services as well as encouraging active c
ommitment by users. However, it has also been argued that it can shift
insider-outsider dynamics discouraging certain groups from engaging.
While the growth of interest in co-production provides important insig
hts and challenges for public management, it has also started to have
a significant influence on the UK university sector due to continuing
debate around public engagement, impact and relevance. There are sever
al important crucial conceptual issues related to the growing national
and international academic interest in co-production that need to be
explored to make them more visible. This conference brings together bo
th academics and non-academics working in public management, public he
alth, geography, law, arts, and social studies to address those concep
tual issues. \nThis conference is funded by the BA/Leverhulme Small R
esearch Grant and it is free to attend. However, because numbers are l
imited and places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basi
s, early registration is essential. You can register this conference b
