Background to your work
I am the Co-production coordinator. I support the Co-production team within RNIB group, covering both the RNIB and Action for Blind people, supporting the development and realisation of a strategy for Action to become a truly user led charity, where blind and partially sighted people are recognised as equal partners and have real and direct influence in the organisation; and empowers blind and partially sighted people to enhance the design, planning and delivery of services.

Action Connect - A national network linking people affected by sight loss

Take a look at our national network linking people affected by sight loss.

Action Connect

About Action Connect

Here at Action for Blind People (Action), we understand how important it is to ensure that the experience of people affected by sight loss shapes what we do, and how we do it. That’s why we’ve created Action Connect, a forum for you to communicate with Action and with other people who are visually impaired.

Through Action Connect, our teams across the country will gain a better understanding of what living with little or no sight means. This insight

will shape our services and the way they are delivered; the things we say; and what we aspire to do in the future.

And we aren’t just talking about people who are blind or partially sighted themselves – input from friends and family, colleagues and employers is
important too. In fact we want to hear from anyone whose life has been touched by sight loss.

Why join Action Connect?

We recognise the role that the community plays in helping people deal with their sight loss. Action Connect will enable you to share your own
experiences, learn from others and find solutions
to specific problems.

You can also connect with people in your local area and individuals who share your interests, in the way that most suits you. And, if you want to get together in person, we can help you do that too. With Action Connect, you no longer need to deal with issues alone because you have the support of others who have experience of what you’re going through.

You’ll also be helping us to improve our services, which benefit nearly 30,000 people every year.

What’s involved?

You will be able to participate on your terms, in whichever way best suits you - via our online forum, face to face, by phone, email, post or in direct

partnership with us - and you can have as much or as little involvement as you want. It’s that simple.

Hello and welcome to the co-production practitioners network Natalie, thanks for joining us!

The practitioners network is supported by nef but all content is developed by members, for members. There's over 750 of us now from a wide range of backgrounds. To make the most of this fantastic resource, and in the spirit of co-production, do give others the chance to get involved by asking them to help you or sharing your skills with others.

Some of the following areas are good starting points;

Network groups – join your regional group for face to face and online contacts close to home just go to the networking page to find a full list of groups.

Resources and Videos bring co-production to life - add your own and view others.

The Blog carries the latest news, debate and opportunities for co-production practitioners. See what’s going on, add in your own comments or start a new thread. It would be great if you wanted to blog about the work you are doing within Action for Blind people.

It would really help to know how you heard about the network and what motivated you to join. Please let me know at lucie.stephens@neweconomics.org. Also, please share the details of the network with colleagues or contacts you think would be interested.

Look forward to hearing from you,

Lucie

Head of Co-production, nef
